Unholy fuck, yes!
”Abominations of the Ageless” is now being mastered!
A week or 2 ago when I told you that the album was mixed I focused on explaining to you the album’s ending, as it’s very important to me. Now I’ll dive a little bit deeper into what you’re about to experience with our 15th album, ok?
Today I sent our new record to the great Dan Swanö of Unisound for the mastering process, and the weight lifted off my shoulders by doing this is fucken downright amazing.
You know that I always work insanely hard on our stuff, but this has been a completely different beast altogether. I have never spent this much time on mixing a recording as I have done with “Abominations of the Ageless”.
I am so insanely satisfied with the result and it’s been a tremendous journey working with Dan’s fantastic production and his invaluable assistance. The unfathomable amount of hours that has gone into adjusting every single detail would put a normal human being in a mental institution.
To hear Dan Swanö say “- That fucken detail work you have done… I get teary-eyed!” is a reward I treasure more than he’ll ever know. But fuck, I guess he knows now. Thank you, Dan. For the 3+ decade friendship and your audio magic.
I have fucken lived and breathed this material for longer than I can remember, and the fact that I get a huge smile on my goddamn face every time I hear the tunes, still, is assuring me that I have done absolutely everything within my power to perfect this monster.
I am so, so proud of what “Abominations of the Ageless” is.
As I have said a gazillion times before; the fact that I can do this shit at this level since a decade or so back… having the monetary input from some 200 people to be able to pay everyone involved with the recordings… well…
I will never, fucken ever take it for granted. I can never stress that enough. It’s fucken insane.
I am truly one lucky fucken bastard to have this support from you guys, time and time again. As long as I can physically compose and have this from you people, TPH will go on. It’s really that simple. You make it possible. Do not ever forget that.
I won’t.
This might sound arrogant, but I obviously compose TPH for myself. I have never for a second thought: “- I wonder if the Haters will like this…”. It’s absolutely fantastic if you do, for sure, but this must be done for myself.
I need this.
I am this.
With this mindset… to see the way you back me up financially with every album without hearing a single note in advance… it’s fantastic and I can’t seriously be more thankful. Sure, you know this, but it bears repeating. You deserve it.
About the coming album…
Do not expect “Abominations of the Ageless” to be anything different than what you’re used to. I already reinvented the wheel when I started TPH some 24 years ago, I’m not interested in doing it again. All I care about is to create something that is worthy of being called TPH and push myself as hard as I can, playing and composing wise.
I need to go forward, I need to work harder, I need to go further.
Every. Goddamn. Time.
“Abominations of the Ageless” is the fucken pinnacle of this mindset.
The work that Jörgen, Ellinor, Dirk and Lasse have put in is once again absolutely astonishing. I can’t believe I get to work with these people each and every time.
Thank you guys, I fucken love each and every one of you.
The same goes to production guru Dan Swanö, Johan Hegg (backing vocals) and Seiya Ogino (artwork and layout) of course.
You are all fucken absolute champions.
“- So, if the album is done, what’s taking so fucken long!? Let us have it already!?”, I hear you say.
Well, there’s more stuff going into this than “just” getting the mix and mastering done, obviously.
Trust me, as soon as everything is ready you will have it in your inboxes.
I said September, and September it will be. That’s as exact as I can be actually. But you’ll have it this month unless the world goes completely Armageddon on us. I guess you’ll notice whatever comes first.
Just hang in there. The wait is soon over.
