We have a mission to complete…

While in the middle of moving to my new house (The Dungeon is moved last, of course, in case there’s something popping up that I just need to record ) it seems I can’t really let the music be… I have started to seriously compose for the 6th track now, slowly building this monster up. As I usually point out – there’s a long, long way to go before this one is finished. I have created a few minutes already though, which feels awesome. I have had this riff in my head for a while and now it was the right time to actually create something out of it. Safe to say it’s a brutal piece for this track…

I listened thru the completed tunes last week and it really shows we have upped ourselves yet again. My plan is to write 2 more songs, meaning the album will have 7 diabolical symphonies in total (none of them is a 3-minute wonder, just so you know, haha). It will take the time it takes. We won’t rush a thing with this album. And of course, we can’t record anything until we have the funds for it – so don’t forget the TPH Donation Experiment. Or buy a shirt. Or one of the very few albums we have left. Every cent goes into the funds for recording.

“Bleeding the new apocalypse” is still the epitome of what TPH is about, but that’s only becoz this coming one isn’t recorded yet.

Look to the right…

Inside that one there’s some amazing music being stored. And as it looks, the first real draft of the 5th song is now completed, which means it’s time to check the guitars for eventual errors and stuff that needs to be re-recorded to make it perfect. As suspected, this one will be a tune where Mike Wead will really get to shine (as if he didn’t shine brighter than the sun already when it comes to playing guitar). There is a good chance that this 5th tune will eventually end up being the closer of the album, at least that’s how it feels at this very stage. I am extremely happy with the outcome of this one even if there’s tons of work left with it before it’s complete. It’s definitely a little different approach to it than what you are used to with our music, and I am sure you will adore it. There’s a real dark atmosphere present, one that is bringing forth the purgatory we are always aiming for. The next step, after recording bass and checking the guitars, is to add the orchestral parts as always. Can’t wait to wrap this one up and move on to the next. Safe to say, things are going absolutely excellent when it comes to the writing of our next masterpiece.

Into the grave.

Now that’s a fine fucken album by the legendary Grave. You know, Jörgens old band. But this is not about them, this is about the process of creating music for our next album. I just needed a title for this update. Anyways, this morning I went up real early (for some reason the peak of creativity is at its highest in the mornings for me) and continued working on the song referred to in this here post. The basic lay-out of it is practically done and it feels like I will devour myself to some serious arranging now, to make the song perfect. Some really tricky guitars in this one playing stuff I usually do not play, but that’s how it’s been so far over the course of composing for this; I have really challenged myself in all areas and some stuff will most likely catch you off-guard since you’re not really used to hear this in TPH (as I have told you before, but it is crucial to repeat it). Atmosphere and diversity are the keywords here. As I mentioned before, guitarist extra-ordinaire Mike Wead better warm up those pretty little fingers of his, coz he’s gonna have his work cut out for him in this one. I still have a ton of stuff laying around to work with but I better concentrate on one thing at the time now or I’ll end up with an album with 5 hours of music. You’d love that, though, wouldn’t you? Either way, I am back to composing to bring this bastard to life. The fifth tune is nearing completion, people, but as always there’s lots of work left.

Almost there…

After some time of insanely hard work, the fourth track for the next album is really shaping up. The structure for it is pretty much done and the rhythm guitars have been 95% nailed as of this morning. I still have bass to record, not to mention the time it takes to do the orchestras and whatnot before it’s really completed. I have been listening to this tune over the last few days to really dissect it and work with different approaches to it, something that has paid off big time yet again. A few weeks ago I was pretty sure which one would be the opener for the next opus, but after writing this 4th song I believe there might be a new sheriff in town (I fucken finally managed to get a cowboy reference into a news post). Talk about luxury problems. It’s time to really go through the guitars closely, to see if I have fucked up somewhere (which I never do) before putting down the bass and then move on to the keyboards so this bastard of a song can join the other 3 in all their glory. I haven’t decided on how many tunes the next album will hold, but with these 4 songs we are well over 40 minutes of running time, so you can see where this is heading… Yes – towards absolute domination.

Updates as promised.

I told you that I’ll keep you updated on the process of writing for the next masterpiece, so here we are again. After yesterday’s update I devoted myself to wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. Oh, and in between I managed to wrap up the third track with its orchestrations, some re-played bass and everything else you can think of. You can see it playing in my Winamp if you look to the right. Like it, huh?*

As soon as I started writing this tune I felt that it will be the one starting off our next album, and when you hear it you’ll understand why it’s chosen as the opener. Or not. You never know. I understand it anyways, and that is kind of important in the grand scheme of things, I guess. Well, not much more to say right now except that I am moving on to the fourth tune now. Oh, and ofcourse – don’t forget to show your support by purchasing the new shirt. That’s not asking for too much, now is it? We haven’t sold enough to pay the printer yet, that’s how much money we make on this shit, haha…
