Closer… closer… closer…
I have been spending the whole day with more corrections of the material and Dan’s almost nailed everything now. Still a few small things to take care of (like 4 or 5 over the course of the whole album), but considering the amount of stuff he’s had to correct so far according to my wishes – this is a piece of cake to sort out. There’s one whole tune left (saved this one for last) to go thru with these corrections, so I expect a few sessions with that one before the album is finally completed. Then, as mentioned, I will let the album rest for a few days before I’ll play it in my iPod with those expensive Denon in-ear’s and a few other sound sources to make sure it’s sounding as awesome as it obviously sounds in my Cerwin Vega’s. Let me tell you one thing – I wouldn’t want to be Dan and have to mix a TPH album of this magnitude. The guy is a phenom and I can never thank him enough for the absolutely astonishing sound he’s fired up for us this time around.
You’ll hear it soon enough, Haters. Soon enough…
It’s all falling into place…
As usual, up early to check the songs from Swanö for corrections and what he’s done with the past corrections I have given him. Well, we are close now. A few more sessions with this and we are done. The stuff he’s pulled off is amazing. The production is crushing and the amount of time he’s spent to be able to bring out all the details is just insane. I wouldn’t wanna be working with me at this point, lemme put it like that, haha… But it’s as I have said all along – I haven’t spent all this time on this album to let anything slide now in the final stage of completing “The Cadaverous Retaliation Agenda”. And the result is… beastly. In a not too distant future you’ll experience it all.

More updates will come during the week ahead.
And I thought I worked fast…
Then let’s not even begin to talk about Mr. Swanö… Obviously, we are moving forward in a faster pace than expected. And when I say that I mean Dan just informed me he’s mixed the last 3 songs now for me to go thru and make corrections for. Unbelievable. On top of that, let me just add that Dan’s been spending the last bunch of hours working on one specific thing that I haven’t been fully satisfied with up until this point. The bass sound. You know how important the bass is in TPH‘s productions… Well, I am satisfied now. Actually, I am beyond satisfied. Dan’s understood exactly what I have been after and now I got it. It is with a huge smile on my face that I put on the clip of the final bass sound, letting it blast the fuck out of my speakers. Nicely Dan (pun intended), Mr D.
Nicely. Fucken. Done.
Tomorrow I will get the rest of the songs to devour and make changes to. That should take a little while, and after that it’s time for a short break to let our ears rest a bit, and then we move on to the absolute final stage of the process. I’m not going to promise you anything, but if this works out as it is right now – there’s a huge chance you’ll have this album before Christmas. How about that?
Now, if you excuse me, I have some bass clip to play again.
Mixing some more…
So, the second run for corrections on track 2 is done and there’s but a few, very small, details to fix in this one now – and then it’s completed. The second round of corrections for track 3 is being taken care of as well, and now I am working on the 4th track to see what needs fixing in that one.
As you can see – we are making huge progress every single day now. Stay tuned, more updates will follow.
More from the mixing process!
Mr. Swanö just handed over the first corrections he’s made for the second track and now that one is pretty close to being finished as well. Just a few more things to deal with before moving on to the third one. Or actually, Dan’s already sent over the third one for me to go thru to see what needs to be adjusted. And seriously, it wasn’t much at all at this point. Dan’s definitely understood what I am after and is acting accordingly before I even have the chance to say much. Me and Dan’s been working together for so many years he knows me pretty goddamn well by now. Sure, there were a few things that needed to be fixed in this third one (there’s always these small things to take care of, you can never avoid that), but we usually have two or three sessions with each song to make the alterations needed to make me satisfied – to have these few things for the first session is not common. Good work, Mr. D! Fucken great even. It’s an honor to work with ya, you bastard.
This is how it will go down: we will work our way thru the tracks until we feel they are “done” and then give it a few days of rest where I listen to everything both in my home studio and through a couple of other sound sources (such as iPod and different stereos) to make sure it sounds great everywhere. Then we will do the eventual last fixing of details and after that – “The Cadaverous Retaliation Agenda” is complete! Just as planned, we are wrapping this up late 2012/early 2013. Never have I been involved with such a smooth ending process of a TPH recording. Keep your fingers crossed it continues like this.
You won’t have to wait for too fucken long now. And you will see – it’ll be worth every second of waiting.
